Some of the affected Series Data Traveler Black Box, Data Traveler Secure – Privacy Edition and DataTraveler Elite – Privacy Edition. For an update, they must be posted. The authentication password has a gap.

Kingston Technology is recalling certain encrypted USB flash drive models of its Series Data Traveler, in order to play on with an update. They contain, according to marketing manager Jim Selby an error when processing password: "The encryption itself is functioning properly."

Some of the affected Series Data Traveler Black Box, Data Traveler Secure – Privacy Edition and DataTraveler Elite – Privacy Edition.

Selby said: "With the right skills and tools someone could exploit the vulnerability." The hacker would have to first steal the drive itself.
