Plextor enters SSD market B

The SSDs are working with MLC memory cells and a 3-GBit/s-SATA-Interface. The 64-gigabyte model PX-64M1S possible according to the manufacturer sequential read speeds of up to 110 MByte / s and write rates of up to 65 MByte / s. For the 128-gigabyte version still are not available.

The read performance is Plextor entry with 42,000 instructions per second (IOPS on). Write performance is around 12,000 IOPS. The mean time between failures (Mean Time Between Failures, MTBF) is 1.5 million hours. Plextor’s patented wear leveling technology is to ensure a long life.

In the read and write operation, the PX-64M1S consumes 0.75 watt according to the manufacturer. At rest, it is content with 0.25 watts. It is compatible with Windows, Linux and Mac OS X. Supplied with the backup software Acronis True Image is included. The warranty is three years.

The first models offer 64 to 128 GByte storage space. The 2.5-inch drives use MLC memory cells and a Marvell controller. You can reach transfer rates of up to 110 MByte / s read and up to 65 MByte / s when writing.

The company known for their optical drives Plextor has introduced its first solid state drives. The 2.5-inch drives use a controller from Marvell and a 64 Mbyte cache. They come in the first quarter with 64 and 128 GB of storage capacity on the market. Prices are not fixed yet.
